So much as regards the fortune which it was very generally reported that I had made by the “speculation”!! It may possibly interest the public to know the result of my own proceedings and personal experience since I published my third edition in 1864. My weight has continued at about ii stone, from which I have never varied more or less than 3 lbs., principally when I was experimenting to ascertain my own greatest dietetic enemy; and I have proved very satisfactorily that it is and was sugar and saccharine elements.
